Turkey!
Coffee!
Love at the Mini Gym
Meet Rowan's girlfriend. She's the girl doll at the Mini Gym in West Seattle. Mike was pulling Rowan around in the wagon and just started throwing some of the random toys laying around in the back. The minute kiddo saw the doll he grabbed her and starting making out with her for ten minutes straight. It was almost a little embarrasing.

Hooray!!
In light of the recent good news, we are all celebrating here in the Conyers' house. Well, all of us that aren't already passed out (Rowan is sleeping in my lap). So long George Bush! See you later Sarah Palin! I've never been so proud and optimistic about my country. It's a good world Booboo.
In other good news, aprons are funny. Or at least the tie that hangs off of aprons when dangled just above Rowan's face is hilarious. I got this good video of him cracking up the other day. Man, I heart this guy.

Daadaadaadaa
This movie is about a month old but it's a good test to see if I can upload a video clip. This was Rowan in his pack-n-play (thank you Aunt Kay) in our kitchen. He's being chatty. He's probably trying to lure someone into picking him up. He's sneaky like that.

Halloween
We still can't find our camera charger, which means it's probably someplace so obvious that we keep missing it. In the meantime here are some shots from my phone. The first is Rowan sleeping in his Halloween costume/jammmies. They glow in the dark and have matching pants. They are really cute...I mean spooky.
The second shot is from the pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago. He has just woken up from a nap and was still groggy when we took this photo. You can see how well he's standing though, as long as he has something to hold onto.
In other news no one in the house, except maybe the cat, is getting any sleep this week. Rowan is on another "nurse all night" binge and this time it's coupled with growling and clawing at mommy until she gives in and gives up the goods. It's like sleeping with a badger. Between kiddo's growls and mommy swearing I'm pretty sure Mike and the dog aren't getting much sleep either. Let's hope this is just a short phase.

Rowan, boy model
A few months ago our friend Wade asked if Rowan could model a onesie that was made for a bike messenger friend of his. Since Rowan was about 6 months old at that point, we figured it was about time he get a job so we agreed.
This is one of the shots. The back of the onesie had a nipple wrench on it (apparently it's a bike tool with a funny name).
We also have a million cute shots of Rowan and his little friend Zoe at the Pumpkin patch a week ago but our camera's battery died and we can't find the charger! Argh! Until we can get that worked out - you'll just have to look at Zoe's blog for her shots. They include a cute sequence of photos where Zoe is creeping up to Rowan and then attacking his head.
Rowan is 8 months old today! Happy Birthday Booboo!

Where you come from
I found these old photos of Mike and I as kids while cleaning out my old laptop. I think Mike is wearing his dad's robe and using his cane in that shot. For the longest time I thought he was holding a rifle...but thank goodness I was wrong. The shot of me is probably the only time I've ever worn a bikini. I remember that bikini. I remember thinking it was a Wonder Woman costume.
I often wonder how Rowan got to be so darn cute but I guess his dad and I were pretty good looking kids too. Luckily Rowan seems to have inherited all of our best attributes.
I just hope he doesn't get my fair skin. Every childhood beach memory I have is paired with memories of being smothered in aloe or menthol shaving cream to take the sting of my third degree sunburn away. Blisters, peeling skin, not wanting to bend my legs because the backs of my knees were so burnt that every step was excruciating. I never want Rowan to endure any of that.

Help!
Rowan likes to play with my phone and since you need a password to unlock it I thought it was pretty safe to let him play with it. That was until my phone rang and it was the 911 operator asking if I needed assistance.
Apparently Rowan had called 911.
Jinkies! I guess that means no more fun with mom's phone.
Now stand!
A couple of weeks ago Mike put Rowan in his crib for a minute while he picked out some new clothes. When Mike turned around Rowan had pulled himself up and was standing!
These days only standing will do. Standing on the couch, standing in the pack-n-play, standing next to the baby gate, anywhere and everywhere. Sitting is for babies and Rowan's no baby.
Fwends
Ivy is the funniest thing in the world, if you ask Rowan. She seems pretty fond of him too. She's constantly smothering him with kisses and tolerates him hanging on to her as he learns to stand. We're glad that he's growing up with a giant dog and won't be scared of dogs when he gets older.
Here are some good shots of the two of them in love.

Food!
Rowan's moving on to solid foods now. He loves watermelon, cheerios, teething crackers, risotto, pizza crust, and carrots. This shot of him with the melon was the first time he got possessive about something. He threw a bit of a fit if you took the melon away.
The dog is pretty happy about the move to solid foods since she gets anything that falls on the floor. Rowan's even been known to slip her a cracker or two.

Welcome
Welcome to the new blog for Rowan! We'll try to keep this up to date with new photos and updates on what he's doing (right now he's trying to smash the computer).
He's still using his commando crawl to get around the house. He's seems more intent on learning how to walk at this point instead of learning how to crawl with his tummy off the ground.
Sitting is no longer an option. He wants to stand all of the time. That means a lot of little tumbles and baby tears. In the words of our 2.5 year old friend Bene "Being little is hard."
